The Altar and the Ash
I followed the pride of a father who fell
And built me a palace on the threshold of hell
I gathered the stones and I polished the lie
While the Adonai of Glory was bleeding to die
I see the Second Adam, the King of the Scars
Upholding the weight of the sun and the stars
The sky is His temple and our heart is His home
But I made a fortress of wood and of bone
Lay me down in the ash, let the fire descend
Till the Ancient of Days is my Lord and my Friend
Lord, I am sorry. Lord, I am small
Yahweh, my Savior, be Lord of it all
Like the first man in shadows, I hid from Your face
Exchanging Your presence for a hollower space
But the Altar is calling, the Witness is true
There’s no other mountain, no Savior but You
I’m trading my”will” for the weight of Your Word
The sweetest conviction my spirit has heard
I am prone to wander, Lord, I feel it!
I am prone to leave the God I love!
Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it!
Seal it for Your courts above!
Create in me a clean heart!
Renew a right spirit!
Cast me not away!
I am done with the running!
I am done with the hiding!
On the sky able, undeniable!

The King has descended from His sapphire throne!
